Our Medical Advisors

  • As a Resident Doctor in Tian Yun Chinese Medicine & Acupuncture Clinic, Taiwan and with 5 years of experience in the Center for Traditional Medicine, Veterans General Hospital in Taipei, Dr Wu is well-versed in the practice of Chinese medicine.

Believing Chinese medicine to be a complex combination of philosophy, literature, history and medicine, she appreciates how Chinese medicine doesn’t just treat the disease, but the person as an “inseparable whole”.

Maintaining a dynamic and harmonious state between the mind, body and spirit of each person is, for Dr Wu, the focal point of Chinese medicine. She finds indescribable joy when patients who have run out of options and solutions in Western medicine find their journey to recovery with TCM remedies. In her words, TCM has given her a “deeper understanding of the meaning of life.”

  • Coming from a family heritage of prominent Chinese medical professionals, I-Ta received his Bachelor’s degree in Chinese Medicine from the Beijing University of Chinese Medicine. He is passionate in integrating Chinese medicine and Western medicine, as he feels this offers an optimal blend of medical solutions for patients.

And ince his return to Singapore, he has been a practicing physician and has conducted numerous public healthcare talks and workshops with very positive public response. Charged with a strong mission in promoting TCM knowledge, I-Ta encourages “every individual to account for their own health”. Through the sharing of simple TCM methods and use of natural herbs, he is empowering patients to effectively manage their own health and prevent illnesses.

MARIA

Growing up in Taiwan but having lived in Singapore for the last 9 years, I found that traditional Chinese herbs and medicines were not as accessible as I would have liked. Many of the medicine halls in Singapore offered limited information on the herbs prescribed and were unable to customize concoctions suited to the individual. On the other hand, frequent visits to TCM doctors proved quite costly and unsustainable as a lifestyle.

Having personally experienced the true benefits of TCM herbs, but being unable to find what I needed on the market, I began this journey of exploring how I could provide modern women like myself with easier access to TCM herbs. I truly believe that everyone deserves to benefit from the riches of TCM practice in a way that is simple, straightforward and transparent. TCM should be a viable option available to anyone willing to try it. It shouldn’t just be a remedy we associate with our mothers or grandmothers.

In my quest, I started speaking directly to accredited TCM practitioners and working closely with them to conceptualise our products. My study was always driven by the desire to bridge the information gap between TCM practitioners and consumers. All my research slowly started to find its form when I met Felicia. She possessed the much needed expertise to turn my ideas into reality. And with that, Ying Yi Wellness was born. At Ying Yi Wellness, we are undergirded by the singular desire to revolutionise the practice of TCM, making it simple, accessible and relatable to you.

FELICIA

I studied and have been trained as an industrial designer, and have always had a heavy interest in finding new ways to integrate business, design, and science. I also always had a desire to bridge the gap between the Eastern and Western cultures I grew up with.

Growing up in the US, I often noticed how people applied a “band-aid” approach to medical treatment, taking pain-killers for period cramps, for example. However, at home, my mother and grandmother would often advocate preventative and natural health practices as simple and effective ways to treat the body. The fact is that traditional Chinese medicine has been operating unchanged for centuries, passing on in some form or another from my grandmother’s mother, to my grandmother, to my mother, and now, to me.

So when Maria told me about her idea to ‘re-package’ TCM into easy, accessible products that busy women can use daily, I was sold. The concept married my passions for business, design and science and had, at its core, the desire to translate and integrate Eastern medicinal practice into the modern Western world. Maria and I have not stopped chipping away at this block since and you can be assured that we are every bit as devoted to your health and wellness as you are.

Our hope is that with Ying Yi Wellness, we will be able to answer your questions and share information transparently because you, as consumers, simply deserve to know. Most importantly, we hope that by creating dialogue among women about health and traditional medicine, you will realise that you hold more power over your own wellness than you previously thought.

Here’s to revolutionising TCM, one tea bag at a time.
